2022 End of Year Retrospective

As we reflect on LawtechUK’s 2022, we wanted to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the LawtechUK programme this year. Whether that was by attending an event, lending your expertise, joining the discussion, using one of our resources, taking a course or simply spreading the word. 2022 was a big year for LawtechUK, which was only possible with the continued support of the community - thank you.

Below, LawtechUK's Director Alexandra Lennox, share a message on some of LawtechUK’s achievements in 2022, as well as her predictions for lawtech in 2023.

Some of LawtechUK’s 2022 highlights:

• Welcomed a new team: Alexandra Lennox - Director, Aleksandra Wawrzyszczuk- Head of LawtechUK, Megan Kearns - Marketing Lead, Jack Cane - LawtechUK Lead and Michel A. Nkansah - LawtechUK Executive.

• Dispelled misconceptions around Digital ID with the regulators.

• Identified how Smart Contracts are transforming key industries and sectors with “Contracts, just Smarter”

• Launched the Legal Data Vision, providing a framework for the legal industry to start to value, use and share data.

• Scaled the Lawtech Sandbox giving 31 lawtechs access to mentorship with industry experts and support navigating regulation.

• Conducted research and public consultation on English law and digital securities with the UK Jurisdiction Taskforce (still to come in January 2023!).

• Brought together the community around questions that matter, inspiring action as well as ambition at our Shaping the Future of Lawtech event.
